Yuvraj Singh and Top 3 unluckiest players to miss out

1) Yuvraj Singh: The Punjab southpaw was in scintillating form for nearly a month before the selectors picked up the 15-man squad. He slammed three consecutive tons for Punjab in the ongoing Ranji Trophy after being left out from the preliminary 30-member squad for trh World Cup. The left-hander was the Player of the Tournament in the last edition even as he battled ill-health to end up with loads of wickets and runs in India’s successful campaign last time. With questions over Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness, there were calls of including Yuvraj in the final squad for the World Cup. However, selectors decided otherwise.
2) Robin Uthappa: The Karnataka batsman has scored heavily for his state side in domestic cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR in the Indian Premier League (IPL). . He reinvented his batting technique under Pravin Amre and there has been no looking back since then. However, with Ambati Rayudu doing well in the chances that were on offer, Uthappa couldn’t make it through as the second wicketkeeper-batsman in the side.
3) Varun Aaron: The express pacer would consider himself unlucky to have not made it to the squad. He lost his place as the selectors chose to go in with the medium pacer Stuart Binny, who also offers a better batting option. Varun Aaron has been generating good pace and can be a useful asset in the Australian and New Zealand conditions. However, he has often been guilty of straying in line and length and invariably leaking a lot of runs.
4) Murali Vijay: Murali Vijay has been in fine form in test cricket for the last two years. However, he got very few opportunities in limited-over cricket. With Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane doing well in ODIs, the task of making it to the side was tough. However, his brilliant show in the Australian pitches in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy made his claim for a berth in the Indian side stronger.
